Does God exist? part 2
In my first bog (Does God exist? part 1) I briefly touched on some basics to the existence of God. I talked a little on the Ontological argument, but here I will discuss the Teleological argument. The word teleology comes from telos which means “purpose”. The idea that is that it takes a “proposer” to have a purpose. In other words, design implies a designer. In no scientific field is design considered to be spontaneous; it always implies a designer, and the greater the design, the greater the designer. Thus, taking the assumptions of science, the universe would require a designer beyond itself.
This argument applies to the whole universe. Clearly, every life form on this planet is highly complex. The human brain has approximately 10 billion gigabytes in capacity. How complex is DNA? Literally hundreds of conditions are required for life on earth, everything from mass density of the universe to earthquake activity must be perfect in order for life to go on.
With this kind of design, it is hard to believe Earth got lucky and everything on it was by random. This brings us to another aspect of the argument. Evolution. The Intelligent Design movement in science applies information theory to life systems and show that chance cannot begin to explain its complexity. Single-celled bacteria is so complex, that without all their parts working together there would be no survival potential. Darwin himself saw this while looking at the human eye. There is too much complexity in life to explain without a creator.
